H.H Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum
PatronReproductive Biotechnology Center was established under the patronage and guidance of H.H. Sheikh Hamadan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Makhtoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, as one of his initiatives and aims to position Dubai as a center for excellence in research and development. A graduate of the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, UK, H.H. Sheikh Hamadan has attended several specialized training courses in London School of Economics and Dubai School of Government. His Highness has always been interested and supported research, particularly in latest biotechnological advancements in enhancing the production and preservation of different animal species of the region.
His highness is renowned for his love of the animals and it is that passion which has been behind establishment of this center with a goal of making it as a regional and international institution of excellence. He has a personal interest in research and knows about all the advances in science achieved by dedication. His support, both financial and moral is highly appreciated.
Ali Ridha Al Hashimi
Administrative DirectorMr. Ali Ridha is a leader in the field of veterinary and medical research across the gulf region and the world. A student of the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK, Mr. Ali graduated from the Medical School with a degree in clinical biochemistry. The University is world renowned and teaches students to integrate medical disciplines, forming a holistic view of treating and curing diseases. Key areas of focus at the school are ageing, stem cells and cell biology.
In addition to his role at RBC, Mr. Ali is also admin Director of Central Veterinary Research Laboratory (CVRL), Director of Pathology Services, Dubai Health Authority (DHA); Director-General of Dubai Herbal & Treatment Centre (DHTC ) and Steering Committee Member of Dubai Equine Hospital (DEH). He started CVRL in 1983-84 with help and encouragement of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Makhtoum, which has grown now in in to a world class research center. H.H. Sheikh Hamadan bin Mohammed has been and is inspiration and supports him like his father on many aspects of research.
Dr. Nisar Ahmad Wani
Scientific DirectorThe state of the art Reproductive Biotechnology Centre has been established under personal supervision of Dr. Nisar Ahmad Wani with a mandate to develop and apply latest biotechnology techniques for different animal species of the region. Dr. Wani has been heading Reproductive Biology Laboratory in Dubai from year 2005. In year 2009 he and his team produced World’s First Cloned Camel named ‘Injaz’. In subsequent years he produced many more cloned calves from the somatic cells of elite animals ranging from racing champions to beauty queens.
Dr. Wani has a bachelor’s degree in veterinary sciences and a masters and doctorate degree in Animal Reproduction. He has done many post-doctoral courses in different labs around the globe. Dr. Wani’s main research focus is to develop and apply the latest Assisted Reproductive Biotechnology techniques in order to enhance the production of different animal species of the region. Dr Wani has many publications in reputed international journals and is board member and reviewer of many international Journals in his field of specialization. Dr Wani is member of many international organizations and has travelled widely to deliver lectures and talks on his field of specialization.
